Coast developer to benefit from affordable housing programme

A coast based developer, Elen Properties Ltd., plans to bring modern affordable housing to Mombasa residents. The proposed project is a joint venture between Tadissa Capital Ltd, a Financial Advisory and Marketing services and Mwacharo and Associates Architects and Urban Designers.

The Ellen Ocean View Homes affordable housing project has received pre-development approvals from NEMA and Mombasa County government as well as purchasing interest from the Civil Service Housing Scheme Fund and the Mombasa County Police Community.

According to documents from the developer, the project will comprise of 2400 homes inclusive of a community and neighbourhood recreation and shopping centre.

The project will be targeting first civil servants and other first time buyers, young families and retirement-age buyers with user specific needs in stylish and convenient small to medium space living environments.

The Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development early this year gave the developer a nod to market the properties to civil servants, and agreed to finance any civil servant interested in purchasing a house in the project. The houses are priced at between KSh. 2.35million to KSh. 5 million.

The project will employ the gated community concept complete with a perimeter wall including amenities such as in-house Wi-Fi connections parking, family play areas, solar street lights, water treatment, a perimeter wall and security personnel.

Buyers will have a variety of options to choose from, ranging from micro-flats, one bedroom apartments, two-bedrooms and three-bedrooms. The project is located in Bamburi area along Coral Road.
