Global Investors Plan Less than $2 Billion for African Real Estate

Global real estate investment volumes by institutional investors is projected to reach $78.9 billion in 2021 according to this year’s Investment Intentions survey.
Africa and American markets (excluding the U.S) are expected to receive the smallest portion of the funds at $2.05 billion while.
The report states that institutional investors plan to move a minimum of $66.9 billion in assets into global real estate, with funds of funds expected to invest $11.1 billion while the lion’s share, almost half, at $32 billion, will be committed to European real estate.
North America is set to receive $21.1 billion while Asia-Pacific real estate is projected to get $11.7 billion. Last year the survey estimated Europe would attract about $48.09 billion, North America ($23.4.4 billion) while Asia-Pacific was set to bring in $34.19 billion in real estate investments.
According to the survey, 84% of institutional investor respondents said they prefer office, industrial/logistics and residential real estate.
The survey also found that on average, institutional investors allocate 9.3% to real estate compared to the average target of 10%. The annual publication is sponsored by the European Association for Investors in Non-Listed Real Estate Vehicles, the Asian Association for Investors in Non-Listed Real Estate Vehicles and the Pension Real Estate Association.
