Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Lands, has embarked on an exercise to issue certificates of title/leases to owners of untitled County allocated land.
In a recent notice, NMS called on all Nairobi City County land allottees and the general public to take note of the free exercise.
The exercise will give the landowners capacity to enjoy security of tenure and realize the full economic potential of their properties since they will have acquired the right to undertake value-adding activities like construction developments.
The notice has advised the allottees to submit copies of allotment documents to their respective stations for the exercise which runs from September 23rd to October 10th.
The areas listed include Mathare, Huruma, Kayole, Ngei, Umoja, Soweto, Dandora, Embakasi, Kariobangi and Kahawa West among others.
On Friday last week, Lands Cabinet Secretary Farida Karoney has announced a new phase of the Nairobi Titling Programme that will see 18,635 title deeds issued beginning next month.
She made the announcement during a joint press briefing with Nairobi Metropolitan Services Director General Mohamed Badi in which she also announced the waiver of land rates and rent for landowners of Site and Service Schemes, Tenant Purchase Schemes, county allotted properties, and land-buying companies.
