Nairobi City County has entered into a Joint Venture Partnership with Erdemann Property Limited for the development of an urban housing project. The Urban Renewal and redevelopment of the old Housing Estate within the Nairobi City County-Ngong Road Estate Phase 1 is to be undertaken on the land belonging to Nairobi County.
The proposed development will be located along Ngong road immediately after meteorological department. The developer has already submitted regulatory requirements to the environmental management body for approvals.
Architectural drawings show that the development will be made up of 15 blocks of 34-floor apartments consisting of 3060 units of residential housing in total. These will include 285 1-bedroom units, `1768 2-bedroom units and 1007 3-bedroom units. The project will also have 3086 parking spaces, a court yard and other associated amenities.
Current old structures on the land which measures 5.058 ha, including Nairobi City County inspectorate department staff quarters, will be demolished to give way for the project which will cover a Total Built up Area of to be 441,370 sqm.
The project is meant to upgrade the housing welfare of the Nairobi County employees and to address housing problem in the country as per the presidents big four agenda on affordable housing and the vision 2030.
Edermann properties has also proposed to construct a housing development in Mavoko on 7.9 acres of land. The Great wall Gardens housing project phase III, will be made up of 14 blocks consisting of 48 units per block and a total of 664 units. The project also includes 626 parking spaces, 24 shopping units and a children’s play ground.
The project, located about 27.8 Km from the city centre, is within the vicinity of Great Wall Gardens Phases one and two. The Mavoko location has been the subject of interest from developers in recent years including the National Housing Corporation which has plans to establish a residential outpost there.
