Nairobi based airport hotel Four Points by Sheraton has been named the Best Luxury Airport Hotel in Africa at the recent International Hotel Awards.
The hotel was named the overall winner in the Africa-Arabia region and also scooped the Best Airport Hotel in Kenya.
The hotel is a touchpoint for many international travellers passing through Nairobi for business, tourism and other activities as well as for the local corporates.
Four Points by Sheraton did not shut its doors despite the contraction in volumes during the lockdown period through April, May, June and July; and has already resumed normal operations with full-service offerings.
The award which comes on the backdrop of hospitality industry turbulence will boost the hotels business prospects as recovery slowly returns.
“Going on to win the accolade for Best Luxury Airport Hotel in Africa for 2021 is particularly meaningful given the current challenges. It is a testament to our commitment to guests and the industry. This award also serves as a reminder that the hard work our team puts in to guarantee health and safety does not go unnoticed,” said Vivek Mathur, General Manager Four Points by Sheraton in Nairobi.
The hotel has been winning the award for the continent since 2018.
“We are moving full steam ahead to meet all the requirements of our guests, whether travellers or the corporate community surrounding us. We are here for the long term,” he added.
The awards are the most acclaimed industry awards globally, judged by an independent panel of 80 industry professionals chaired by Lord Thurso, a member of the House of Lords in the UK Parliament.
Key areas of assessment for the awards include design, quality, service, innovation, originality, and commitment to sustainability.
The 172-room Four Points by Sheraton Nairobi opened its doors in October 2017 and is located inside the JKIA Airport complex.
