
A developer, Krishna Estates plans to put up a residential complex in Kiambu County. The planned gated community residential development will be located off Kiambu Road in Thindigua area on a plot of land measuring approximately 2 acres.
Basically classified as a large-scale residential development, the planned project will involve construction of 224 residential flats consisting of two and three bedroom apartments.
Two of the blocks shall accommodate two-bedroom flats while five blocks shall accommodate three-bedroom flats. For the two-bedroom flats, the two blocks shall be typical with each floor accommodating four two-bedroom flats thus each of the two blocks shall accommodate 32 two-bedroom flats making a total of 64 two-bedroom flats.
Similarly, each of the five blocks for three-bedroom flats shall accommodate four units per floor, rising to eight floors. Each block therefore shall accommodate 32 three-bedroom flats making a total of 64 three-bedroom flats.
Design details of the flats show they are occupied by a lounge, two or three bedrooms, kitchen, balcony and a DSQ in addition. The proposed plans have been submitted to the authorities for approval.
The residential houses and all other facilities shall have all the basic facilities to the local standards including a standard wastewater treatment system for waste water disposal.
The premises will also have a common driveway, parking and for security purposes, a perimeter fence with two gates.
In the recent past, there has been an increasing tendency to develop integrated, low-cost and secure housing infrastructure within the confines of fenced boundaries with restricted and well-guarded entrances in the order of gated communities.
The developer estimates that the on approval; the project will take about 36 months to implement and it is estimated that it will cost KSh. 1.2 billion.
